TERMS OF SALE
This sale is made for cash on delivery of the goods, which may be obtained at the termination of the sale.
The highest bidder to be the buyer.
Should a dispute arise and the disputant has a voucher and is willing to advance on the price at which the lot was stricken off, then the said lot to be put up again and sold to the highest bidder. This does not apply where a bidder has not made any offer prior to said item being knocked down — then the auctioneer will use his judgment as to the justice of the claim of the contesting bidder, and his decision shall be final.
No lot is separated. All are sold subject to the catalogue descrip- tion and by the catalogue numbers. Should any lot become misplaced, the buyer does not acquire any right in it if it is stricken off without the mistake being discovered, and such a lot must be returned to the auctioneers. If any lot cannot be delivered from any cause whatsoever (though the cataloguer will make every effort to deliver), the auctioneers and cataloguer are only responsible for its value as sold and determined by this sale.
The auctioneers and cataloguer reserve the right to bid on their own account and for their clients who have favored them with commissions.
Every item is guaranteed genuine, and this holds good indefinitely.
Each lot sold so much per piece.
No coins shown during the progress of the sale unless to oblige a special request. Any one wishing to see a lot will be given every oppor- tunity to do so if possible.
To those who have not attended a coin sale, permit me to suggest that you mark in your catalogue during the exhibition the price you are willing to pay for the various lots, as there is no time for reflection during the progress of the sale.
I will carefully and faithfully execute any bids entrusted to my care, charging a fee of 5 per cent, on the amount purchased, no charge being made for services rendered unless the lot was purchased.
IV
TERMS OF SALE.
The cataloguer and auctioneers will not be responsible for any errors made by bidders, so please carefully compare your bid sheet with the catalogue and make certain you have the numbers correspond on the lots being bid for. Nearly every sale develops some mistake; quite often the bid sheets arrive unsigned, with no way to determine the identity of the bidder.
Time before the sale is so brief I request that bids will be sent to me as soon as catalogue is received.
Thanking ray many friends and customers for their liberal support and loyalty in the past, and striving to merit a continuance of the same, I remain.
Sincerely,
HENRY CHAPMAN,
Numismatist,
333 and 335 South 16th St, Philadelphia.
